It was called

Whether you spend a small fortune on your foundation, or are thriftier in your approach to cosmetics, professional application techniques are essential if you want to maximize the value of your investment. As its name suggests, foundation (or base), is the makeup step upon which all subsequent cosmetics you apply rely, therefore, you need to master this step if you are serious about presenting a polished look.

From liquids to powders, gels to minerals, and age-defying to oil-control formulations, regardless of your skin type there is a foundation out there to correct any skin imperfections you may have, and give your skin that airbrushed look we all crave. Sample as many different brands and formulations as possible before purchasing, and research some of the online cosmetics review boards for unbiased opinions without the sales pitch. Allow sales assistants to advise you wherever possible, but never feel pressured into buying a product unless you are 100% certain you have found the right foundation for you.

Color Selection
The advice proffered by magazines and beauty books for years now has been to find a color clone, a shade of foundation that is imperceptible when applied to the jaw line or behind the ear, but professional makeup artists never limit themselves in this way, and nor should you. If your skin is clear and healthy, and you are willing to spend extra time blending carefully around your hairline, jawline, ears and neck, there is no reason why you shouldn’t use a darker shade of foundation to create a tanned appearance.

The most important element to selecting base color is to stick within your own tonal family, paying particular attention to whether you have neutral, red, or yellow undertones, and be realistic about the depth of color your complexion can carry. Never expect your skin to wear a shade darker than it would naturally tan.

If you are uncomfortable with the idea of using a darker shade, apply a color clone foundation first then add color afterwards using a finely milled bronzing powder. The best bronzers contain an array of colors that create a natural, multidimensional finish, as opposed to single pigmented powders which should only be used for facial contouring, as they leave your skin looking dull and lifeless when used on the entire face.

Skin Prep
Perfectly exfoliated skin is essential. Oil clogged pores, and dry, flaky patches of skin subvert foundation by discoloring and altering the texture of the formulation, and prevent the product from gliding effortlessly across the skin. Exfoliate your skin at least once a week and always the day before a special occasion.

Lips are frequently overlooked until the application of lipstick, but tending to them at this stage will improve the polish of your look. Take a warm face flannel, or an old toothbrush, and buff your lips to remove any dry flakes of skin. Next, work in a small amount of lip balm or cream, removing any excess with a tissue. It is frequently advised that you should also apply foundation to your lips but, unless you use a particularly moisture rich formulation, doing so will only zap precious moisture from this delicate area. Applying balm to your lips before foundation works as a barrier to prevent this.

If you want to take advantage of your natural eyebrow color, rather than building color from scratch once foundation is applied, a slick of balm on the brows also discourages product from gathering in this area.

Primed and Plumped
There is a wide array of primers on the market that promise to fill in wrinkles and smooth your skin, allowing for perfect base application. Whilst many of these are excellent, always bear in mind the effect that applying another layer of product can do to your skin. Many primers contain silicone which can plug your pores and cause more problems than they solve, and others can work against the skin, starving it of oxygen, so are not suitable for daily use.

As with foundation, shop around and do some research. If you can find a formulation that suits your skin, and you can afford the added cost, primer can make a significant difference to your makeup, but a good moisturizer can work equally well if you utilize the correct application technique.

Moisture Application
If you want to use a day cream in place of primer it is essential that the formulation is perfectly suited to your skin type. If your moisturizer absorbs quickly and cleanly, and doesn’t slick around on the surface of your skin before eventually subsiding, it will easily double as primer. Skin should feel plump and hydrated to the touch, without any residual slip, and remember to use sparingly at first and add more if needed.

Work a small amount of moisturizer into the dry areas of your skin using a slightly dampened, professional quality foundation sponge. The best sponges are made of a smooth, compacted sponge and, in this case, wedge-shaped. By gently pushing the product into your skin using this technique, you control both the amount and the location of moisture being added, thus eliminating the need to wait until the product settles before applying foundation.

The use of cosmetics dates back to ancient Egyptian era. In 3500 BC, Egyptian royalties used them to paint the body. In the Middle Ages, it is popular for people, especially the British Monarchy, to have white and pale complexion. Some of them even use chalk and flour to make skin look whiter.

But since antiquity, there have been bad effects associated with the use of cosmetics. In the past, some cosmetic products contain harmful chemicals such as mercury and lead. Although the products sold in the market today are now vastly improved, your skin can still receive considerable damage because of chronic use of make-up.

These products prevent the pores from "breathing". If it is necessary for you to wear make-up daily, make sure your skin is not greatly affected because of that. Here are some tips to avoid skin damage:

1. You might want to invest in products that only contain natural ingredients. Parabens have hazardous effects to our health. Today, many people prefer the use of mineral make-up because they contain beneficial ingredients. They might even work in improving skin countenance.

2. The product you are using should contain SPF to ward off UVB rays. UVB rays can damage the skin greatly. In fact, ultraviolet rays might also interact with some chemicals present in cosmetics.

3. Chinese royalty during ancient years use pearl powder as a base to avoid damage caused by the use of cosmetics. Pearl powder can protect the skin from external aging factors. You might want to include pearl dietary supplements to keep dermis tissues strong and elastic. These supplements most likely contain keratin that can help improve collagen regeneration and repair.

4. Do not sleep with make-up on. Use an appropriate cosmetics remover. Using tissue alone to blot out the product will not work in removing it completely. If you don't have a make-up remover, you can try using moisturizers with jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is capable of completing cleaning the skin.

5. Exfoliate your dermis twice a week. Some of the residues of facial products accumulate in skin pores. Use a mild exfoliating scrub made from oatmeal and sour milk. Sour milk can get rid of dead skin cells and accumulated dirt on skin surface.

6. Apply anti aging moisturizers right after cleaning your face. Use a moisturizer that can repair damaged tissues. Buy a product loaded with CynergyTK, Phytessence Wakame and Manuka Honey.

CynergyTK is an ingredient extracted from the wool of sheep. This ingredient supplies keratin to the dermis. This can improve collagen regeneration. Phytessence Wakame is a type of sea kelp that can prevent the loss of hyaluronic acid. This acid is necessary for collagen lubrication. Manuka honey can bring back essential lipids to the dermis. It infuses moisture to prevent skin dryness.

Mineral Make Up KitMineral Make-up Foundation are terrific to help keep mature skin looking matte, and are truly effective at making the skin look younger by hiding the fine lines and wrinkles common in an aging face.

Natural minerals are very finely ground, light, easy to apply and cover all kinds of imperfections, dark circles, age spots, freckles and sun damage. They cover the flaws, and let the real you shine through.

Tip 1- Use Aloe Vera gel as a primer.

Aloe Vera gel is cheap, pure, natural, healing the skin, not greasy or sticky like a moisturizer and dries quickly on the skin. It will cover your face with a very light thin coat to create a smooth setting for your Make-up and will keep your skin smooth and comfortable throughout the day. Aloe Vera contains a natural sunscreen, making it perfect for day time Mineral Make-up primer. It is also very astringent, creating an instant mini lift very useful in the morning!

Tip 2- Stay away from commercial Mineral foundations that are "light reflecting"

Often advertised for mature women, as a way of reclaiming a youthful glow. In fact the light will reflect off the peaks but not in the troughs, making your wrinkles even more obvious. Mature women cannot use any shine, sheen, pearl or glow in their foundation. Absolutely no extra sheen Mica such as Satin Pearl, Pearl white; they do enhance the fine lines and the wrinkles. Shine has tendency to get absorbed into the creases, reflecting the light and showing more the fine lines and wrinkles.

Tip 3- Your Mineral Foundation must match perfectly your skin tone.

For a modern natural look and for foundation coverage, you want a make-up that once it is applied is virtually invisible on the skin. You will know the best color because it will disappear into your skin and match completely. If you can see the difference between the color of your skin and the make-up you just applied, it won't look natural.

Don't try to correct your skin tone with your foundation shade, it will not work, use Mineral Correctors or Concealers instead.

Tip 4- Apply your Mineral Foundation with a large brush or Kabuki.

Mineral make up sits on the skin, not in your pores, it doesn't cake or leave lines like other powders or creams. The Kabuki brush provides the face with a flawless finish in a matter of a few minutes. The trick is to apply light layers and build up to get the coverage you want. Incorrect application of a Mineral Foundation can lead to a caked appearance. Well applied, you will find it hides the wrinkles more than the cream ones.

Tip 4- Use a Mineral Concealer at least two shades lighter than your foundation shade.

Young women do not much make-up to look good – but when we get old and need the camouflage more than ever, uneven skin tone is a give away sign of aging. A Mineral Make-Up Concealer is a "must have" for mature skin. I prefer them in powder, the creams have tendency to settle in the lines and their oil content reflects to the light, if we apply on top the Mineral Foundation, the powder sticks to it, making skin pores more apparent and we look…caked!

Mineral Concealer will give you more coverage than your foundation blend, it is ideal for camouflaging imperfections, red skin, sun damaged, acne scars etc. It also helps to neutralize the look of blemishes and dark under eye circles.

Many want to use the green shade, it is a color Corrector. It is similar to a Mineral Concealer in ways, the green is far more effective in covering redness on the skin. If you suffer from spider veins, broken veins, redness on the cheeks, this is fantastic. Once you apply this you do need to use your regular foundation over the green, if not, you will look colored not corrected.

Tip 5- Don't use a white Mineral veil powder to set or fix your make-up.

Many older women develop fine downy hair on their face. White powder clings to those hairs making them more obvious, especially in bright light, use a Mineral veil lightly tinted with your foundation powder.

Experimentation is always necessary when creating and finding the perfect combination that works especially for you.

Mineral Make-Up Concealer or Corrector is a "must have"for a Natural Look

Concealer will give you more coverage than your foundation blend, it is ideal for camouflaging imperfections. It helps to neutralize the look of blemishes and dark under eye circles.

Use a concealer that is at least two shades lighter than your foundation shade.

Some may think that using a dark concealer is what's needed; this will only show through under your foundation.

Yellow based concealers are the most common, this is due to the majority of skin has a yellow undertone. For an easy yellow concealer, add more yellow oxide to your lighter foundation powder, grind it thoroughly to prevent streaking on your skin before adding to the moisturizer.

Those with more fair skin usually have a pink undertone and therefore will use concealer to match.

Darker complexions usually have a yellow/red undertone. Be sure that your concealer matches your skin undertone.

Many want to use the green shade, this is not a concealer, it is a color corrector. It is similar to a concealer in ways, the green is far more effective in covering redness on the skin.

If you suffer from spider veins, broken veins, redness on the cheeks, some blemishes, this is fantastic. Once you apply this you do need to use your regular concealer over the green, if not, you will look colored not corrected.

You can make this using your base mix, or a light foundation powder. Take 2 teaspoons of powder and put in your grinder, add 2 to 3.15 cc scoops chromium green oxide and grind. You may want it greener, it depends on the coverage you achieve from this, and you will need to experiment to get it right for your complexion. Your face will be the testing canvas.

The color can easily be adjusted by adding additional red iron oxide, yellow iron oxide or ultramarine blue.

-Pink Corrector: Gives a glow to sallow complexions. May also be mixed with your mineral foundation to camouflage yellowish bruises.

-Blue Corrector:
Great for under the eyes & helps to neutralize orange skin (from sunless tanning) and brightens the face.

-Yellow Corrector:
Brightens warmer skin tones. Use this to cover up dark colored bruises &dark under-eye circles.

-Green Corrector:
Tones down redness. Use this to hide minor pimples, blemishes, scars, birthmarks and broken capillaries.

-Lavender Corrector:
Counteracts yellow complexions and yellowish bruising.

-Apricot Corrector:
Warms up yellowish skin tones and sallow complexions.

Experimentation is always necessary when creating and finding the perfect combination that works especially for you.

Makeup made of minerals can also have a healing effect on rosacea and acne.Concealer is a form of makeup that is used to mask unsightly blemishes, pimples, and discolorations on the face as well as dark circles under the eyes, more commonly known as raccoon eyes. Foundation is first applied all over the face to create a flawless tone and skin coloring. Then, concealer works to blend in to the surrounding foundation as it hides blemishes. Concealer can help to even out your skin tone and mask unsightly flaws. Concealer is different from foundation whereas concealer is often thicker because it holds more pigment and color than foundation. However, concealer is almost always paired with the use of foundation to ensure overall perfection.

If you suffer from any red patches, dry areas, yellow, green or blue discolorations on your face, blemishes, pimples or bruising, it is a good idea to invest in a concealer to work alongside your foundation. If you only use foundation, often times it will highlight the problem areas and blemishes instead of hiding them. Concealer can help to finish the job that your foundation was unable to get.

To choose the right shade of concealer, it is recommended to choose at least one shade lighter than the foundation that you use. Using concealer that is a shade lighter can help you blend it into your foundation for a flawless finish. There are a variety of concealer shades available to choose from including light skin and golden undertones to dark skin with neutral undertones, and every shade in between. There are also other shades of concealer that are specifically meant to contrast a certain color or type of blemish. For example, concealer is available in shades of blue and green which are meant to contrast against any red patches found on your skin. Red patches can be caused by pimples, broken blood vessels, capillaries, or rosacea. You can also purchase a purple concealer, which will counteract yellow discolorations on your skin as it brightens up your sallow or shallow complexion. Another shade of concealer that is available is white. White concealer can help to hide dark circles and bruises, and can also help to highlight and brighten up an otherwise dull skin tone.

Concealer is a product that is meant to be applied sparingly. You do not need much concealer to cover even a large-sized blemish. It is wise to start out with a little bit of concealer as you start to blend it in gently into the surrounding areas. If you need a bit more coverage, apply a little bit more of the concealer and blend it in. Keep doing this until your blemish or skin issue is completely covered and you are left with flawless skin.

There are many different types of concealers that range in color and weight. Concealer is available in different textures from a very light powder to a heavier paste. However, the heavier the concealer, the heavier the coverage will be on your face and blemishes. You can opt for choosing a lightweight concealer, such as mineral make up, which will work just as well, if not better, than the heavy paste concealers. Mineral make up works exceptionally well at covering up blemishes and problem areas on your skin. Since mineral make up is so light and airy, it tends to work well with any skin type. Paired with mineral make up foundation, a mineral concealer will work well by reflecting light differently and helping to hide unsightly defects.

Unwanted blemishes can really put a damper on your day, especially if you have just discovered a new pimple hours before you have an important event to attend. It seems that this always happens when you have somewhere important to go. However, if you have a great concealer and foundation on hand, you can easily cover up the unwanted blemish and carry on with your day worry-free. No one else will even know that you have covered up a blemish, especially with the help of a perfectly applied, lightweight, tone correcting concealer.

Concealer can even work for people who suffer from other skin issues such as oily skin. Mineral make up is the best choice for people with oily skin, especially for concealer. Heavy concealers can actually clog the pores by not allowing the skin to breathe. Mineral make up is perfect because it allows the skin to breathe while providing ample coverage that allows you to hide those unwanted blemishes, without exacerbating the skin issue you are already dealing with. You can cover unwanted blemishes as they appear and have them stay covered all day with mineral make up solutions that are overall better for your skin.

Concealer That Enlivens Your Complexion

Mineral makeup does not contain chemicals commonly found in regular makeup which some argue are toxins and ultimately not good for your skin.

What is concealer?

Concealer is a type of cosmetic that is used to mask the dark circles under your eyes as well as any blemishes or pimples on your face. Concealer is used to hide these blemishes by blending the concealer into the foundation on the surrounding skin and evening out the tone of the skin overall. Concealer is often paired with foundation that is usually applied as a full-face coverage. The difference between concealer and foundation is that concealer is often thicker since it contains more pigment.

Do I need concealer?

Not everyone needs concealer. However, if you have any skin blemishes such as red patches, dry patches, yellow patches, blue areas, bruising, or any other parts of your skin that are unevenly matched, concealer can effectively help to blend the blemishes away making them disappear from sight.

What shade of concealer should I use?

Many people wonder what shade of concealer they should use to properly blend with their skin. Most often, you should choose a concealer that is at least one shade lighter than the foundation you use. Using a lighter shade creates a different coloring to the skin and helps you blend it in to the surrounding foundation. If you suffer from extremely dark circles under your eyes, you might have to go two shades lighter.

What shades of concealer are available?

There are an abundance of different shades of concealer available from the lightest, palest color to deepest, darkest shade. Any woman, whether they have perfectly porcelain skin or medium skin and natural undertones, there is a concealer that can match your skin tones. Most shades of concealer are meant to look like a natural skin tone, while others are vibrant shades that are meant to contrast a certain skin color or blemish. For example, if you find that you have a bluish or grey tint to the circles under your eyes, a yellow shade of corrective concealer can help to even out the skin color and diminish unsightly raccoon eyes. On the other hand, if you have a slightly brown tint to the circles under your eyes, you will want to choose a light blue or purple hue concealer. When contrasting the colors you can cancel out the blemishes.

How do I use/apply colored concealers?

It is smart to apply the colored concealers very lightly. You do not need much concealer to counteract skin issues such as rosacea, pimples, broken blood vessels or capillaries.

When should I use white concealer?

You should only use white concealer to help blur the dark circles and bruises on your skin. You can also use it to brighten up your skin if it appears dull.

How do I use/apply regular, skin colored concealer?

Even with skin colored concealers, you should apply them sparingly and blend in to the surrounding area and foundation.

Are there different kinds of concealer?

Concealers can range from a light powder to a heavy paste. Typically, the heavier the concealer, the more coverage it will provide. However, not all heavy paste concealers are best for your skin. Some light powder concealers, such as mineral concealers, work just as well at concealing skin problems without having to use the heavy products. Heavy products can sometimes clog pores and create further skin problems and, therefore, it is best to use a characteristically lightweight concealer.

Mineral Concealer Make-Up: Enliven your Complexion

Mineral make up is a great way to enliven your complexion. It allows your natural skin tones to shine through while still covering up blemishes and skin problems. Mineral make up works differently than most cosmetic products by allowing light to reflect off of the skin. Even though mineral make up is applied lightly, it often does a better job of covering up blemishes and any skin discolorations.

Another benefit of mineral make up is that it tends to last a long time once applied. Mineral make-up adheres to the skin and blends in thoroughly as a light mask on your face. Cream and paste concealers tend to be heavier and often need to be reapplied throughout the day to maintain ample coverage of blemishes and skin discolorations. This can often be time consuming and more expensive.

Most women look for full coverage and easy to apply makeup that offers all day coverage. This reduces the time that women spend applying makeup while achieving perfectly flawless skin. This can easily be done with mineral make up concealer and foundation. Again, there is no need to reapply your concealer or foundation more than once.

Take a look at mineral make up concealer and foundation the next time you are purchasing cosmetic products. You will be completely content with the overall coverage that mineral make up offers you, at an affordable price
